Visit to Teme Valley Winders
Winders’ winter meeting.
Teme Valley Winders are a local group of the “Music Box Society of Great Britain” MBSGB and hold two meeting a year. The meetings take the format of bring and discuss members’ event: this somewhat gives a false impression as the scope and quality of the contributions is very high, and resulted in a full and interesting day.
Our Society was invited to attend the 3rd December meeting as a result of contacts made at our summer visit to the Birmingham School of Jewellery to listen to John Morehouse talk about the celebrated firm of Fabergé – by appointment to the Tsar!
Four of our members including myself set off a very cold but sunny December morning, arriving with ample time to spare before the start of the meeting. On arriving we were made welcome by John Philips the chairman for the day; just under 30 enthusiasts were present.
Teme Valley Winders’ interests are not limited to mechanical music but to any device that is powered by “winding”.
The following are a section of photographs from the day.
